Visit Churchill, Manitoba, the "Polar Bear Capital of the World" - only on vacations to Canada!

In October and early November, polar bears congregate at nearby Cape Churchill in large numbers, waiting for the ice to form on Hudson Bay.

Once the ice is stable enough, they disperse to spend the winter hunting seals. In these two short months you have the chance to see these magnificent creatures up close from the comfort and safety of a purpose-built vehicle called the Tundra Buggy.

This Canada vacation package is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a ‘must-see’ for wildlife enthusiasts.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Arrive in Winnipeg - Your Canada Vacation Package Begins
Your trip begins in Winnipeg; after checking in to your hotel for a one-night stay, spend the day exploring on your own. Consider visiting the Manitoba Museum, which has nine galleries displaying historical artifacts or the Forks, a funky market which is one of the city’s most popular gathering places. Overnight in Winnipeg.

Day 2 - Winnipeg to Churchill - where the excitement begins on vacations to northern Canada!
Enjoy a scenic flight from Winnipeg to Churchill, over the tundra and plains of the North, roughly a three-hour trip. Upon arrival enjoy a guided tour of the town, featuring the Eskimo Museum – a memorable and informative introduction to the unique culture of the north.

Days 3 & 4 - Polar Bear Viewing on your Canada Vacation Package
Churchill is known as the Polar Bear Capital of the World because large numbers of the bears congregate near town each fall while they wait for the ice to form on Hudson Bay. With two full days on the specially-designed Tundra Buggy, you’re guaranteed to see these bears at close quarters. You should also keep a sharp eye out for other arctic wildlife such as the illusive arctic fox.

In the evening, take in an informative slide show highlighting Churchill. On day 4 the group sits down for a pleasant dinner - recounting the trip and sharing stories.

You can also take advantage of exciting winter activities only available in the wild north of Canada - go on a snowmobile tour or discover the tundra by air on a helicopter flightseeing adventure. Ask your Fresh Tracks agent for details about these thrilling options you can add to your Canada vacation package!

Day 5 - Churchill to Winnipeg
Embark on an exciting dog sledding excursion today! Meet the dogs, learn about their lives and histories and then take on the wild tundra mushing your very own team! This is a must on polar bear vacations to Canada.

You will then enjoy a visit to the Parks Canada Interpretive Centre, where you will learn more about the history, wildlife, and culture of Churchill and the surrounding area. Fly back to Winnipeg for a one-night stay.

Day 6 - End of Canada Vacation Package
Your Canada vacation ends as you check-out from the hotel and depart Winnipeg.
